Carollo Engineers to Standardize on Bentley's EADOC Capital Project Management Offering to Reduce Construction Management Costs

11.2.2016 15:03

Carollo Will Deploy Bentley’s EADOC Across All Construction Services Teams

EXTON, Pa., U.S.A. – Carollo Engineers and Bentley Systems today announced that Carollo has chosen Bentley’s EADOC cloud-based construction management software as its corporate standard for capital project management. Carollo Engineers will standardize on EADOC across its construction services teams, bringing cost savings to all of its projects and eliminating the inefficiencies of managing multiple legacy systems.

As a long-standing user of EADOC, Carollo Engineers has firsthand knowledge of the solution’s ability to help manage risks, track construction documents and communications, and control costs for construction managers at engineering/construction management firms or infrastructure owner organizations. By standardizing its construction management process on EADOC, Carollo will further improve the management of its construction teams using an automated workflow and also improve control of project finances, including budget, funding sources, contracts, and change orders. In addition, the ability to effectively and consistently manage its contractual deliverables with a detailed electronic construction record and audit trail will provide Carollo with the accountability it needs to resolve disputes quickly and streamline project and program execution.

EADOC is being supplied to Carollo through a corporate-wide subscription that is available for all projects, users, data storage, and technical support. As a result, Carollo Engineers’ project teams no longer need to procure individual subscriptions for their projects, which will reduce administrative costs and enable the company to standardize its construction services throughout the organization.

Carollo Engineers Vice President Michael Warriner said, “Bentley’s EADOC gives us a competitive advantage by helping us deliver better projects with less risk and at a lower cost. Our new subscription will streamline EADOC’s availability among our teams and eliminate the administration cost of managing multiple, project-based subscriptions. Standardizing our construction project management practice through EADOC will take the benefits we’ve seen on individual projects and extend them across our organization.”

Eric Law, Bentley Systems senior director, product management, and EADOC founder, said, “We thank Carollo Engineers, a leader in water engineering, for selecting our EADOC system as its preferred construction management solution. Carollo’s management team recognizes the tremendous benefits that EADOC brings to its entire construction services practice, and we welcome the opportunity to help it realize the full potential of that advantage in its delivery of benchmark-setting, high-quality projects.”

Bentley Systems Names External Associate Professor Marianne Rask 2015 Educator of the Year

9.12.2015 17:37

As a Practicing Road Engineer, Rask Is Able to Share Invaluable Firsthand Knowledge of Advanced Software for Civil Engineering and Transportation with Her Students, Providing a Particularly Engaging Learning Experience

EXTON, Pa., U.S.A. – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, a leading global provider of comprehensive software solutions for advancing infrastructure, today announced that External Associate Professor Marianne Rask of the Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, is the recipient of its 2015 Educator of the Year Award. The award recognizes a member of the academic community who has an outstanding record of achievements and is committed to inspiring students to pursue careers in the infrastructure professions.

George Church, senior vice president, Bentley CONNECT LEARNservices, said, “External Associate Professor Rask, a seasoned road engineer, began teaching in order to share her knowledge of advanced software for civil engineering and transportation with future generations of engineers. Her passion for the industry she serves as an infrastructure professional is reflected in the infectious enthusiasm she exhibits in her classroom lectures and dialogues with students. At the Technical University, she teaches a number of road-related courses, in both Danish and English, as required, and is the course coordinator for the university’s Railway Design and Maintenance course. In her Geometric Road Design course, she features the use of MicroStation and InRoads, mentoring students with absolutely no CAD experience and getting them to the point – in just three weeks – where they can understand comprehensive road design systems and have a basic working knowledge of geometric highway design. She also mentors thesis students in the use of Bentley’s OpenRoads software for multi-discipline engineering projects, and looks forward to including OpenRoads in her course curriculum in the near future.

“External Associate Professor Rask’s students gain valuable experience with our software – the same used by civil engineering teams around the world. As a result, upon graduation, they typically are in high demand by Danish road design companies. Her advanced and engaging approach to teaching results in her classes generally being filled to capacity, and earned her a presentation slot during the Bentley global user conference in 2012.

“We thank Professor Rask for serving as an inspiration to students in the engineering disciplines and for her dedication to providing them with the practical skills they will need for successful careers in civil engineering and transportation. On behalf of my colleagues at Bentley, I congratulate her on being named 2015 Educator of the Year!”

In describing how her unexpected secondary career as a teacher began, Rask said, “I had been working for a long time as a road designer when I ran into one of my former professors at the Technical University of Denmark. I blamed him for teaching the students the wrong kind of software instead of the applications that we were actually using for road design. That conversation developed into my getting hired as a part-time external associate professor at the university, where I started teaching MicroStation and InRoads as well as geometric road design. I have updated the course every year, but I still make my students work hard – after all, they should be prepared for real life as a civil engineer. It makes me proud when I see some of my former students designing roads and railways.”

Commenting on her award, Rask said, “I thank Bentley for choosing me as its 2015 Educator of the Year, and for providing a range of useful civil engineering solutions for designing roads, bridges, and other transportation infrastructure, as well as for teaching future generations of engineers.”

Rask has taught in the department of transport at the Technical University of Denmark since 2005. Her professional experience includes positions of senior consultant and CAD coordinator at Carl Bro (Sweco) from 1993 to 2007 and road engineer and road safety auditor at Roskilde Municipality from 2007 to 2013. Rask was an early adopter of Bentley software, having served on the civil engineering steering committees and contributing to the development and direction of Bentley’s civil products. During the past year she has implemented the new Danish standard for the digital roadway into PowerCivil for Denmark. Rask has a master’s degree in civil engineering, building, and civil works.

EXTON, Pa., U.S.A. – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today announced that registration is now open for The Year in Infrastructure 2015 Conference, being held Nov. 3-5 at the Hilton London Metropole in London, U.K. This global gathering of leading figures in the world of infrastructure design, construction, and operations features a series of presentations and interactive workshops that explore the intersection of technology and business drivers, and how they are shaping the future of infrastructure delivery and investment returns.

Chris Barron, Bentley Systems vice president, corporate communications, said, “We’ve been very gratified by the enthusiastic feedback from attendees to our Year in Infrastructure conferences. The participating executives from architectural and engineering firms, construction companies, and owner-operator and government organizations found the sessions to be engaging and well worth the relatively small investment in their time. Many were able to incorporate into their strategic planning the valuable insights gained on advancements in technology and best practices, and virtually all were motivated by the Be Inspired Awards finalist presentations on extraordinary projects that took full advantage of Bentley’s BIM advancements to enhance both project and asset performance. Attendees also greatly appreciated the opportunity provided to network with their peers and the industry thought leaders speaking at the event. To ensure your availability for our 2015 conference, taking place Nov. 3-5, I encourage you to save the date or, better still, to register now!”

The Year in Infrastructure 2015 Conference will include:

  • Executive Summits for C-level executives (available by invitation only):
    • The Project Delivery Summit
    • The Infrastructure Asset Performance Summit
  • Industry-specific Forums that provide infrastructure professionals an ideal opportunity to interact with their peers and industry visionaries and learn about best practices and advances in technology:
    • The Building Forum is focused on the application of collaborative BIM in multi-discipline design and general construction, with an emphasis on strategies to get a better return on BIM investments.
